My name is Diego, and Cotopaxi has been my home and my inspiration for as long as I can remember. I was born and raised in Santa Ana del Pedregal, the last town before reaching the mighty Cotopaxi Volcano. My parents worked at the Cotopaxi Refuge, and as a child, I would play among the mountains, breathing in the crisp Andean air and dreaming of adventures.

It was there, in the heart of the mountains, that my passion for tourism was born. My father, Pedro, had a dream—to build a mountain lodge where travelers could experience the beauty and magic of Cotopaxi. Unfortunately, life didn’t give him the chance to fulfill it. When he passed away, I felt a deep responsibility to bring his vision to life.

I studied, got married, and shared this dream with my wife and two children. Together, we embarked on a journey to turn my father’s idea into reality. It was not easy—financial struggles, the pandemic, and countless obstacles slowed our progress. But after five years of perseverance, Cotopaxi Lodge finally stood, welcoming guests from around the world.

Today, we are honored to share this incredible place with you. As a local, and Certified Mountain Guide ASEGUIM I know every hidden trail, every breathtaking viewpoint, and every secret corner of this land. But more than that, your stay here supports our community—the farmers who provide us with fresh vegetables, potatoes, meat, and milk, and the people who work alongside us to make this lodge a welcoming haven.
